DEMONSTRATION TEACHING EXPERIENCE
A wonderful day to you! Hello, I am Irene Ariana Estrella, I am 19 years old and I am currently studying at the Philippine Normal University - The National Center for Teacher Education taking up Bachelor in Values Education. This blog serves as a partial fulfillment in our course Values Integration in Various Discipline which I came to love and appreciate so much. In my blog you will see a narration of my demonstration teaching experience from planning up to my demo day, some photos and also feed backs or comments from my professor and classmates.
I have a deep appreciation for beauty and art, for the longest time it has been my savior for all the ups and downs of my life. I felt so lucky when I got ART as my subject to teach and where I will integrate values, I thought to myself this is going to be fun for I am totally passionate about this. But to tell you, nobody said it was easy, It wasn't that easy to integrate values to different subjects especially to various topics but I have learned a lot.
First, there's no such thing as lucky when it comes to demonstration teaching, it will always be a battlefield, not just between you and your professor but also you between yourself. You will experience endless revision of lesson plans, defending your lesson plan to you professor, deep introspection if you were really right and sleepless nights for Instructional materials and activities. Second, Battlefield is not always about wreckage, it is also about making sure that you fall down or get up knowing that you had a good fight, I enjoyed all the difficulty of my experience in this demonstration teaching because I know that I love what I'm doing - my motivation has always been this; good things come in threes and so do bad things, they are equal in weigh for me, when you choose to be one, you'll be one, if you choose the latter then you'll be it. I may experienced several thinking and crying to get the right value and activities for my demo, it was all worth it. Thinking is good, it served as an exercise to be creative in producing activities for your students. And also I love Instructional Materials, you see, education and my love for art is a perfect combination, I was able to produce a nice visual aids. Someone once told me that crying is good for the soul, so I don't regret it at all, It will always be a part of my experience. Lastly, I became much more proud of myself for the career I chose, in this subject I experienced being overwhelmed when we are introducing our discipline and promoting that every teacher is a Values Education teacher. This subject made me realize that we are really the heart of education.
I am beyond thankful for my professor for giving me this challenge. It has helped me a lot not just about strategies, approaches and skills in teaching but also a new perspective.
